For Today…May 21, 2012

Outside my window…my dog is barking.  Yes, we still have the dog.  The dog who digs up my bulbs.  The dog who bolted from the gate the other day.

I am wearing…a black and blue dress that flows.  Lance thought it was a slip.  I don’t think this dress will make it into the rotation.

I am hearing…the funniest show on television right now, Veep.  This show is so good, and not just because the VP talks a lot like me.

Moments of grace…a sweet note from a friend, watching my kids succeed in sports, watching my husband hold his temper when he got frustrated over the game.  Having him tell me we will never be “those parents”, no matter what.  He’s right, he’s a lot more graceful than me.  Teaching the kids about the Ascension.

I am praying for…a special intention, Lord, hear my prayer!  For the intention of a friend, in thanksgiving for my priest and in thanksgiving for the gift of adoption.

On the menu…chicken, chicken, chicken…The Key West diet is not working as well as I had hoped.  6 weeks.  8 pounds, how hard can that be???

To be fit and happy…My frustration with dieting is really due to the fact that I workout.  Five freaking days a week.  Does that mean that I workout just to maintain my bad eating habits?  I see a change coming.  This week!  Squirt wanted Insanity for his birthday gift.  And I okayed it on the condition that I could use it any time I wanted!. He and I plan on taking before and after pictures.  He is going to be so amazed at my stamina.

Around the house…I have five different statues of Mary in my house.  All I want is another for my garden and one for my kitchen window.  I have found neither.

To live the liturgy…The feast of the Ascension was last Thursday.  My Easter decorations went to the attic yesterday.  I just couldn’t last one more week.  But really, we did pretty good and my kids understand that “we are Easter people.”  I have a great craft for the boys.  Then we are making a windsock for Pentecost, tying in religion, science and arts all into one lesson.

Finding the joy…in little league, I would have never thought I could like it that much.

I am creating…a small token for Goose’s second grade class.

One of my favorite things…when Goose tells me he would rather spend the day with us/me than his class on a field trip.  This Tuesday he’ll stay home and field trip with us.

A few plans for the week…as far as I am concerned, Goose is done with school this week.  We have a family field trip tomorrow, award ceremony and class party on Thursday and then we’re done.  I just have to finish the gift before he skips the last four days of school.  (And don’t even lecture me about him missing school, I bet my life that there will be no work at school until next year.)

Comments on Daybook~ The Final Countdown

  1. From Lance:

    I made her.

  2. From JILL:

Whoo hoo for comments on the pictures!

SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I adore her smile. 🙂

And Lance…you only get partial credit.

  3. From Denise:

YEAH! Comments working again! Love these pictures she is the most adorable little girl, ever! She has the sweetest smile, can’t decide which picture is my favorite.

  4. From Nikki Andrews:

That last picture is the best!! She is so adorable! You did a good job LZ! (makes the Uncle Drayton pistol sounds in the background)

Insanity – I tried it for a month. I will say that I was in the best cardio shape I had been in for a while. After doing Insanity for a month, I went to a BodyAttack class and I was not winded at all. I was going hard on all the moves and I felt great. The problem was that I got bored and towards the end, 7 days a week was just too hard for me. Every now and then if I don’t have time to actually go to the gym, I pop in Pure Cardio or the Plyo DVD. I hope you guys like it more than I did. Now that I am teaching, I never do it! Torrey got some weights for me so I may never go to the gym on a day off ever again. 🙂 But, it is a pretty good workout.

Not being “one of those parents” during the game is taxing but so important. I had to take it down a notch a few times this year. I’m way better than I used to be. Torrey is always the cool one. I am the one clenching my fists and hitting the chair. I never noticed my parents in the stands acting crazy. I hope ours don’t notice me. There is a mom on OUR team that I am going to use the very awesome phrase “low rent” that I heard on Veep this week when referring to her. I can’t wait to call her “low rent”. I will see her Thursday and if she asks me a certain questions, I may get my chance.

Before you leave to Key West, let’s get together. Dinner????

  5. From Jenn:

First there is no way your mouth is as foul as the VP! We still have an episode or two recorded to watch but have been cracking up watching it.

She’s so beautiful. Every time you post pics or I see you guys I cannot believe how big she keeps getting. I guess it’s how people with older children view W. He’s always supposed to be the baby. But seriously, she looks so happy.

Can’t wait to hear about Insanity. In my head I imagine great torture but maybe it won’t be that bad. I can’t wait to get on a workout schedule again but it’s just not in the works right now. I will channel my energy your way so you survive, but yea, I imagine if you workout 5 days a work, you’ll kick its ass!

  6. From Nicole:

Thanks! And to think in the beginning I didn’t think she was photogenic!

  7. From Nicole:

I think the first is my fave, but maybe the one where she is looking at her shoes…Can’t decide. I just love her so much and her sweetness!

  8. From Nicole:

Low rent! Love that comment. Lance is like Torrey, way better than me. Interesting that my parents are now the ones talking about how bad the pitches are from our coach pitch led teams. Like every single pitch. I notice too, but keep my mouth shut about that. All the other coaches in our league were pretty jerky and fussed and griped about any call. Our coach was super nice, but very passive. It was pretty frustrating at the end when we actually got it together as a team. A couple of calls could have gone our way, but she didn’t complain. Damn video still hasn’t come in…I am excited to have something to use at the house. I have a lot of core stuff written down, but just don’t do it b/c I am so lazy. I need some motivation. NEED. TO. LOSE. THE. WEIGHT.

Baby girl is just so cute! I never realized how much I would love her!

  9. From Nicole:

Isn’t that show awesome?! The things she says have me rolling.

That baby…I hate admitting that she isn’t one anymore. I love who she is, but I desperately want to slow time. I have no problem that she isn’t walking since she is more than likely our last baby. I want to savor every second.

I will let you know about Insanity. I hope we like it, at the very least, it will be something at the house that we can use. I am pretty excited about it though, something to shake things up for my body!

  10. From stacy:

    LOVE my lil sunshine! 🙂
