Mom

Today at mass they handed out a holy card to all mothers.  The following was on the back of the card:

A Mother’s Love

A mother’s love is something
No one can explain,
It’s made of deep devotion,
Of sacrifice and pain.
It’s endless and unselfish,
Enduring come what may,
It’s patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking.
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns
Nothing can destroy it
Or take that love away…

I think that pretty much describes my mom.  She is truly generous with her time and love not only to me,  but to my family as well.  Growing up she took me everywhere. cooked amazing food and always had nice treats waiting for me when I came home from school.  Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!  I love you and am so grateful God gave me you for a mom.

Poem adapted from Helen Steiner Rice

Comments on Mom

  1. From Denise:

Happy Mother’s Day Nicole, just a day late. Hope you had a wonderful day with Lance & the kids! Have not posted a comment here recently, but I love all of the pictures & you have had some great blog posts lately! I love this poem & I borrowed it from you to put on FB for my Mom tonight. Hope you don’t mind. It’s exactly what a Mom is… We gotta get a plan to get kids together & you & I & quit talking about it. Been way too long since we have seen each other!

  2. From Nicole:

Denise, you are right! No more talk, a real plan. The boys would have so much fun, you can see baby, who still isn’t walking!, and I can check out E and C in person! Thanks for your sweet comments. I know your boys feel that way about you too.
