For today…April 23, 2012

Outside my window…the sun is shining.  The day has been near perfect, and we have taken advantage of it.  We played outside after lunch, we met friends at the park and now the boys are outside on the driveway.  This is how childhood should be.

I am wearing…my workout clothes, gray t-shirt, black and pink shorts.  Need. to. shower.

I am listening to…Mad Men.

Music to my ears…“Mom do you want to play Snoopy with me?”- Baby Hulk today.

I am praying for…a very special intention, the prayers of a friend, for my children and my husband.

Moments of grace…listening to my sweet, little boys say the Rosary with me.  And not complain one single bit when I suggested it last night.  My parents encouraging me to take a trip for my anniversary.  My husband insisting that we go somewhere and as cheesy as this sounds, a blog post about exactly this point (going away when the timing seems impossible) reminding me that Lance comes first.  Two friends who love me and Lance and are working to help us have the best anniversary yet.

I am excited about…our field trip for tomorrow.  Goose is skipping school to accompany us to the Audubon Sanctuary, Double Daves pizza buffet and strawberry picking.  His class is taking a field trip, and while it does sound fun, I miss him and he misses us.  What better day to skip.  Plus, I want to take all of the kids to the Sea Center this summer.

From the kitchen…menu planned.  And I’m happy about it too.  I made a lemon cake yesterday.  There are maybe three pieces left.  So very good.  Paul’s mom’s recipe.  I have so many recipes I want to try.  Mostly sweet.  Maybe over the summer.

Learning all the time…We had a great, great day.  We’re talking about volcanoes and vegetables this week.  I sent my neighbor a text this morning asking if they had a certain book.  They didn’t, so they checked out a book for Baby Hulk.  I thought that was pretty nice.  We’ve also been working on place value using this book.  We use Horizons which has been discussing place value, but this book is so much better.

Around the house…it’s a good week.  Nothing serious happened.

I am hoping…things settle down.

Planning…our trip to see Chelsea, teacher appreciation week (a week, they get a week!), the end of the school year, an anniversary trip and a trip to Dallas.

One of my favorite things…field trips with my kids.

A few plans for the week…field trip, Millers Outdoor Theatre and baseball.

A picture thought…

  1. From Nikki Andrews:

This reminds me of our conversation and how when I am upset at my husband I say “YOU STOOD UP AND PROMISED IN FRONT OF GOD AND OUR WHOLE FAMILY YOU WOULD PUT ME FIRST!” Go have a great anniversary trip!!

  2. From Nicole:

That could be one of the best lines ever! And I loved hearing that story! I am pretty excited about our trip. We need it.

  3. From Jenn:

Can’t wait to hear about your trip and where you are going and all that jazz! I think we are doing a little something (quick, overnight probably) when my mom comes up this summer. Good times.

Glad y’all are having a great week. Cheers, it’s almost the weekend!

    And happy draft day Zierleins!

  4. From Nicole:

The draft! Can’t wait until I get to see and talk to Lance for more than one second before the phone rings. That said, he loves this stuff and I like seeing him in his element
    .

We are going to Key West. Pretty excited about it, although it is taking a lot for me to let go of the dream for a vacation with the kids as well. Just can’t pull off two trips this summer. But it’s okay, I know I have to make time for LZ.

  5. From Nikki Andrews:

THE DRAFT!! I was so thrilled about Morris Claiborne that I woke up early to google more videos of him and read all the interviews from last night that I could before work. I was almost as excited as the year we drafted Dez. I’m so ready for football season to start!!! Usually my husband is completely on top of the TV for the draft but since the Saints didn’t have a first round pick, he was not interested but his cell phone was going off constantly with questions.
    :/

  6. From Nicole:

I am dying for football to start. Baby Hulk made a comment today asking why we they were talking about football on the radio…it was just too much to explain. When are we going out again????

  7. From Nikki Andrews:

After Mother’s Day weekend, I am free!! Only a few more volleyball games and swim meets. How about 18th/19th? The weekend after that is Memorial Day weekend but we have no plans that weekend either.
