Thank You!

Today was the day.

Lance announced his resignation from 1560 The Game.  This isn’t something he decided spur of the moment.  He didn’t get mad and walk out.  It was a huge decision for him.  It was difficult.

I support my husband.  I always have.  I would follow him to another city or another dial.

But right now, I have to say thanks to all the people who have called, emailed, or contacted us regarding this decision.

I know my husband is good.  I met him because I was a listener.  Today, so many people made their feelings known as well.  You have no idea how much we appreciate that.  I try and tell Lance all the time how great I think he is.  As supportive as I am, his listeners make all the difference.  And today they came out and showed their full support.  It was quite humbling reading some of the messages to my husband.

From the bottom of my heart, Thank you!

Comments on Thank You!

  1. From DV:

    Thank both of you.

  2. From Ryan:

You’re husband has been a real treat to listen to for the past 12 years for me. I know it’s a trite comment to make, but there have been countless occassions where I was having a far below average morning, and he has gone off on some tangent to distract me from the negativity or mundane that was going on. I’ve had many conversations with friends that have gone something like “OMG did you hear what LZ said/did today?” He is an icon in this city’s sports landscape. I wish nothing but the best for him, you, and your family.

  3. From Jermaine:

No, thank you. You’re the “great woman” behind the “good man” as the saying goes. When my wife and I got married, we were told that we became 1, a single unit. So if we tell LZ thanks, we’re telling you thanks also. He’s able to do what he does because you’re there (can’t you tell I’m married). I look forward to staying in touch with LZ and maybe working with him once again.

  4. From Jonathan:

He is going to be missed and I hope he lands at another station non named Sports Radio 610.

  5. From ken:

I have listened since 1997. He simply is the best on radio, anywhere. He will be greatly missed. I know how much he loves his family because he spoke of you all often. Good luck to you all. He will be missed but hopefully he and you all will remain in Houston. You are all a part of Houston lore and make this a great city.

  6. From Jonathan:

I have listened and never called. I have listed since his first day on the air at 610. Thank you for being a great strength behind a great guy. Your family means much to all of the listeners. We probably all know more than we should about all of you. Take good care of him and I look forward to seeing where the roads will lead.

  7. From Nikki Andrews:

Torrey (my husband) and I were shocked yesterday with the news. I think we were more shocked because we LOVE listening to his morning show. We have been listening for over 10 years now. Torrey sent LZ a text and I sent him a tweet. You were the first person I thought of when I read his blog yesterday and I tried to message you but I didn’t have your email. Anyway, we support you guys wherever you go. For selfish reasons, we hope you stay in Houston. Anytime I called, LZ always was nice and never made me feel like some dumb girl calling a boy’s station.
    Some of my fave moments…
    1. Lou Holz “You never see a dog stretch before he chases a cat”. My husband and I break out into that monologue every time we see Lou on TV.

    2. RC on a mobile. Lance had me fooled. For the longest time, I really thought that was RC Slocum.

    3. SEC guy. I will miss him sooooo much. I remember when people used to call to ask him what to name their kid. I had to pull over. I was in tears.

    4. The guns. Uncle Drayton. We now do that gun firing noise at our house all the time.

As you can see, LZ influenced our lives quite a bit. It was a great thing Torrey and I could talk about because we are both listeners and sports nuts. I wish you guys the best of luck (because you 2 are a team) and we will listen wherever you go….hopefully here! 🙂

I hope I can still get a hold of him for my FF draft!! My classmates from my MBA program are talking so much smack. I have to come with it!

  8. From Missy:

I’m sure it was the right decision for him to make. I just hope y’all stick around Houston and we hear from LZ again soon. He really is the most entertaining and knowledgable fella on the radio- I may have SEC Guy withdrawal this fall.

    Hook ’em sister.

  9. From Andrew Wilson:

Thank LZ for all the memories. Looking forward to hearing him on 790!

    Cheers,
    Andrew

  10. From james:

I have never called a sports show. I have listened to Lance since he started in the business of sports talk on the radio. He is the most talented of anyone I have heard in Houston or elsewhere. Just want to wish Lance the best of luck. Like you I will follow him on the dial and look forward to hearing him again in a new environment James
